Caption: A nickel metal strip was immersed into a beaker containing a 0.2M copper (II) sulfate solution. Since nickel is more reactive than copper, a single-displacement reaction occurred: Ni + CuSO4 -> Cu + NiSO4. Here we see the strip seconds after it was put into the beaker (left) and after 22 hours in the beaker (right).
