Caption: Huge fires in Arizona in June of 2011 spread large amounts of smoke northeast across Nebraska, streaming as far as Minnesota. The smoke plumes could clearly be seen on satellite images. As the sun set it turned blood red through the haze. Without the smoke the sky would have been completely blue.
