Caption: Volvox green algae. Brightfield illuminated light micrograph of a Volvox globator colony. Volvox are small, colonial green algae that make up a larger spherical colony, almost acting as a multicellular organism. The bright green spheres within the colony are daughter colonies. Here, the daughter colonies are inverting (turning inside out) to bring their flagella to the outer surface. Magnification: x71 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
