Caption: LIBRARY Molecular graphic illustration of uracil. Uracil is a pyrimidine-derived nucleic acid, found in RNA. The atoms of the molecule have been colour- coded: yellow = carbon, blue = nitrogen, cyan = hydrogen, red = oxygen. In RNA uracil always bonds to adenine, the linkage being made by two hydrogen bonds. The bonding sites are the oxygen above centre frame and the hydrogen below and to the left. Uracil is also known as 2,6- dioxytetrahydropyrimidine.
