Caption: Light micrograph showing a villous adenoma. At left is a cross section of a polyp with an early cancer indicated by the arrow. At right top are normal cells from the polyp and bottom right are cancerous cells. The cancer cells are shrunken by their disease, making them appear smaller. Cells of more normal length are in the bottom right portion of the cancer photo. The cancer is in situ; that is, still surrounded by normal tissue and has not yet spread. The photo on the left is at a magnification of 7x, and photos at right are at a magnification of 303x when everything is printed at 10 cm.
