Caption: Skin from the Great Hammerhead Shark (Sphyrna mokarran). The Great Hammerhead Shark is the largest species of hammerhead shark, family Sphyrnidae, attaining a maximum length of 6.1 m (20 ft). It is found in tropical and warm temperate waters worldwide. This specimen was collected in Florida. This is a scanning electron microscope shot of the skin. Magnification is 126x and represents a section of the skin 1 mm wide.
