Caption: Mosquito pupa. Light microscope footage of a mosquito pupa(family Culicidae). The pupa has a fused head and thorax (cephalothorax) and segmented abdomen. It does not feed because its mouthparts are changing from the larval to the adult form. After a few days, depending on the water temperature, the pupa rise to the surface of the water, the cephalothorax splits and the adult emerges.
