Caption: The island shelters colonies of Adelie penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae). Antarctica, cruise on Boreal ship, Paulet island, located north of the Shetland islands. The expedition vessel Antarctic was crushed by pack ice and sank in the Weddell Sea February 12 1903. Crew and scientists went onto the pack ice and after 16 days they arrived at the Paulet Island where they wintered for 9 months. A member of the crew died and is buried here.
