Thrombin is involved in the blood coagulation (clotting) process. Proteins are made in the body using the "recipes" encoded along lengths of DNA. Determining the sequence of the DNA that codes for proteins is called genomics. Determining the structure and function of all the proteins in an organism is called proteomics. Research into an organism's proteome (all the proteins comprising it) provides information on how it works.
