Caption: Map of the visible side of the Moon by the German astronomers Wilhelm Beer (1797-1850) and Johann Heinrich Madler (1794-1874). Beer and Madler had published the first exact map of the Moon between 1834 and 1836. Their maps remained the most detailed until 1878. This map was published in 1837.
