Caption: Henry Herbert Donaldson (1857-1938), American neuroscientist. Donaldson is best known for his work on the growth and development of the human brain. While head of the Wistar Institute of Anatomy and Biology, Philadelphia, USA, he developed the Wistar rat, an outbred albino rat that was the first rat to serve as a model organism. It remains one of the most popular rats for laboratory research.
