Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Dr Margaret Ebunoluwa "Maggie" Aderin-Pocock (b.1968), British space scientist and communicator. She was born in London and was educated at Imperial College. She was awarded a degree in 1990 and a doctorate in mechanical engineering in 1994. She has worked in a range of government and private companies, most recently in the design of spectrographs and similar instruments for telescopes and satellites. Aderin-Pocock is most famous for being an inspiring communicator of science, especially to school-age children, and since 2014 has been a presenter of "The Sky at Night" on BBC television. As a dyslexic herself, she is especially keen to show how science is accessible to anyone. She was awarded an MBE in 2009.
