Caption: Macro photograph of an aphid (suborder Sternorrhyncha) on a leaf. Aphids are serious plant pests of certain crops, flowers and houseplants. They feed on the sugary sap of the plant stems and leaves by inserting their tube-like stylets into the plant's veins. This can cause the leaves to yellow, wilt and finally die. Magnification: x30, when printed 10cm wide.
