Caption: William Bernhardt Tegetmeier (1816-1912), British naturalist and friend of Charles Darwin. Tegetmeier was an expert in pigeon breeding and in the optimal structure of hexagonal cells in bee hives. His observations, books and correspondence with Darwin was highly influential on Darwin's view and on the examples he chose for evolution by natural selection.
