Caption: Close up of a giant sea biscuit Clipiaster riticulatus. They are found in water deeper than 50 feet along sandy sea floors in the West Indies. Despite a wide variety of shapes and lifestyles all echinoderms share elements of pentagonal symetry at the heart of their morphological organisation as adults. They begin however like most animals with bilateral (mirror) symmetry as larvae and only acquire pentaradial symmetry later.
