Caption: MODEL RELEASED. A piece of Egyptian linen being sampled for radiocarbon dating. It was taken from the mummy wrappings of a woman named Shepenese, whose richly decorated inner coffin can be stylistically dated to the first half of the 7th century BC in the Third Intermediate Period of the dynastic Egypt. The radiocarbon investigation confirmed this date indicating a date range of 797-551 BC with a 95.4% probability. Photographed at the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, University of Oxford, UK.
