Caption: Bower House, in the grounds of Burrough House, Lincolnshire, UK. This thatched summer house is the site of the first meeting of King Edward VIII (at the time Prince Edward) and the American divorcee Wallis Simpson in the mid-1930s. Their relationship led to a constitutional crisis in the UK, eventually forcing the king to abdicate in December 1936. They were married in June 1937, taking the titles Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
