An induction cooker works by generating an alternating current that induces an oscillating magnetic field in magnetic metals near it, such as a pan or the metal tray here. The oscillating field rapidly heats the metal due to its resistance, while the cooker surface itself remains at room temperature. Induction cooking is much more efficient than cooking with gas or an electric hob, allows for very fast and precise control of temperature, and ease of cleaning due to no external parts.
