This clip is part of the sequence science and technology: protein structure levels

Caption: Tertiary and quaternary protein structures. Animation showing how the secondary structure units of a protein (here, the alpha helices, blue) combine to form the tertiary structure of a protein. The interactions and bonds of side chains within a particular protein determine its tertiary structure. The animation then shows the tertiary structures combining to form what is called the protein's quaternary structure. For a sequence of clips showing the primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary protein structures, see clips K005/6273, K005/6274, K005/6278 and K005/6276. For the entire sequence with text labels, see clip K005/6277.
