Caption: Tertiary and quaternary protein structures. Animation showing how the secondary structure units of a protein (here, the alpha helices, blue) combine to form the tertiary structure of a protein. The interactions and bonds of side chains within a particular protein determine its tertiary structure. The animation then shows the tertiary structures combining to form what is called the protein's quaternary structure.
