Caption: Nursery-web spider (Pisaura mirabilis) female guarding nursery nest. This hunting spider deposits her egg sac on a leaf when the spiderlings are ready to hatch. She then spins a protective web over adjoining vegetation and opens the egg sac slightly. She will not leave until the spiderlings have emerged. Photographed in Worcestershire, UK.
