Caption: Radiotherapy. The CyberKnife robotic system is designed for accurately targeted radiotherapy treatment of cancer. Radiotherapy uses ionizing radiation to control or kill malignant cells. The robotic arm allows the radiation to be directed at any part of the body from any direction. Here, the patient is wearing a custom-made rigid mask to hold their head in position during treatment. Guide lasers (bright lines) are used to help target the radiotherapy so that the radiation is focused on precisely the right area.
