Caption: Weather satellites. Diagram of the orbits of satellites Kosmos 144 and Kosmos 156, meteorological satellites launched by the Soviet Union in 1967. Kosmos 156 was launched in an orbit close to Kosmos 144 so that together the two satellites would pass over the Soviet Union every six hours. They were later replaced by the Meteor satellite programme.
