Caption: Weather satellite. Kosmos 156, a meteorological satellite launched by the Soviet Union in 1967. Kosmos 156 was launched in an orbit close to a similar satellite, Kosmos 144, so that together the two satellites would pass over the Soviet Union every six hours. They were later replaced by the Meteor satellite programme.
