Caption: Pale chanting goshawk (Melierax canorus) perched in a tree. This carnivorous bird-of-prey inhabits the savannah and bushlands of southern and eastern Africa. It hunts by day, watching from a perch and swooping to seize small animals such as lizards, birds and mammals. Adults live in territorial pairs, and roost in trees at night. Photographed in Etosha National Park, Namibia.
