Karl Darrow (1891-1982), US physicist, with his wife Dora. Darrow is best known for his work in the field of atomic energy and cosmic rays - high-energy radiation, mainly originating outside the Solar System. He was secretary of the American Physical Society from 1941 to 1967 and wrote four books and numerous papers and critical reviews. Four of his 1947 lectures are collected in his 1948 book 'Atomic Energy'. Photographed in July 1943.
