Caption: Sokol-KV2 type spacesuit. The Sokol space suit is a type of Russian space suit, worn by all who fly on the Soyuz spacecraft. It was introduced in 1973 and the KV2 variant is still used in 2016. The suit consists of an outer layer of nylon canvas and an inner layer of rubberised polycaprolactam. It is not used outside the spacecraft in extra-vehicular activity, but is designed to protect the cosmonaut in the event of an accidental depressurisation of the spacecraft during launch and re-entry. This suit was worn by cosmonaut Yury Lonchakov, and is on display in the Space Samara Museum, Russia.
