Caption: Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae). Emus are the largest native Australian bird and the second largest bird in the world. They can reach 2 metres in height and can weigh up to 50 kilograms. Although flightless, adults can reach running speeds of over 45 kilometres per hour. Large emu flocks range widely when searching for food, which includes seeds, fruits and flowers. They inhabit eucalyptus forest, desert shrubland and sandy plains.
