Caption: Donald Broadbent (1926-1993), British experimental psychologist. Broadbent worked on the early development of theories of human cognition, and what would become cognitive psychology. He published his theories in Perception and Communication (1958), which became a classic text in the field. His most well-known theory is Broadbent's Filter Model, which postulates a filter mechanism between sensory input and short-term memory. Photographed in 1989, at Wolfson College, Oxford University, England.
