Caption: Audiometry test. Audiometrist testing a patient's hearing. This is an auditory evoked potentials (AEP) examination. AEPs are a type of very small electrical voltage potential originating from the brain, recorded from the scalp in response to an auditory stimulus. The AEPs that are recorded from the top of the head originate from structures within the brain, such as the auditory cortex, the auditory brainstem structures, and the auditory 8th cranial nerve. Photographed at the ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) department at the Fondation Rothschild, Paris, France.
