Common blue (Polyommatus icarus) butterflies resting on salad burnet (Sanguisorba minor) flower. The uppersides of male common blues are an iridescent lilac blue with a thin black border. Females are usually brown with a row of red spots along the edges and some blue at the base of the wings. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
