Caption: Stapler use during intestinal surgery. Surgeon using an Ethicon TA 60 stapler to close an anastamosis (surgical connection) between the ileum and ascending colon. This procedure is done when removing part of the intestines. The stapler is used to join the existing section of the intestines back together after removing the diseased part. This is usually done after an operation to remove cancerous tissue in cases of bowel (colon) cancer.
