This sacrificial slab is at the Huaca de la Luna (Temple of the Moon) in the ruins of Cerro Blanco, an ancient Moche capital city in northern Peru. The Moche were a pre-Hispanic people that lived in coastal river valleys in northern Peru. Their civilisation reached its height in the period from 100-700 AD. Photographed in 2016.
