Desant, an inventor who filed several patents in New York, USA, in the 1890s. The apparatus consisted of two cylinders, a handle to operate the two plungers, two inlet and two outlet valves, and two rubber tubes leading to a mouthpiece. Artwork from the 13th volume (first period of 1894) of the French popular science weekly 'La Science Illustree'.
