Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Fitting surgical stockings. Image 3 of 3. A patient being fitted with surgical stockings after varicose vein surgery. Surgical stockings (beige) are very tight and therefore difficult to pull up over the leg. The stocking is put on over a bag (under stocking), which is made of a shiny material to make it easier to fit the stocking. A tab is left sticking out the top. Once the sock is on, the bag is pulled out from underneath using the tab (upper right). Surgical stockings are used to support the venous and lymphatic systems of the leg.
