Caption: Gondala of Nadar's balloon, 1863. This giant balloon was built in 1863 for the French photographer and balloonist Felix 'Nadar' Tournachon (1820-1910). The balloon was called Le Geant. The gondola had a balcony and was divided into six separate compartments, including a lavatory and a room for camera. On its second voyage, the balloon flew from Paris to Germany. Nadar then brought the balloon to England and exhibited it at the Crystal Palace exhibition hall.
