Caption: Kepler's spheres. Artwork from the 1596 work Prodromus dissertationum cosmographicarum (Prologue to the dissertation on a description of the universe) by the German astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler (1571-1630). Kepler's spheres here are polyhedra, following the Platonic mysticism, still present in Kepler's time, that associated the regular solids with the classical elements. The text is in Latin.
