Caption: MODEL RELEASED. Pollution research. Researcher monitoring the impact of ozone on grassland plants' stomatal conductance and respiration using a porometer. Stomata are the pores on the surface of a leaf that allow for gas exchange. These plants are growing in an open-top fumigation chamber that produces controlled exposure to the pollutant gas, ozone. The chamber replicates the present and projected ozone climates. Photographed at Close House field station, Newcastle University, UK.
