Caption: Thymuline hormone. Computer graphic of a molecule of the hormone thymuline. This organic molecule is composed of rings of atoms and one zinc atom (Zn). Thymuline is the subject of research into aging by French scientist Jean-Francois Bach at Hopital Necker in Paris. The hormone is synthetically made to test its effect on the aging process. Thymuline is produced by the thymus, a gland which plays an important role in the immune system of animals and humans. By boosting the disease-fighting immune system with thymuline, this may benefit old age & longevity in humans. This research is related to Project Chronos, a genetic study on human aging.
