Caption: Lipoma of the duodenum. Endoscope view of a small lipoma (centre left) in the duodenum, which is the uppermost and shortest part of the small intestine, and is the main site of absorption for minerals. A lipoma is a benign tumour that forms from fat cells. They are more commonly found in the skin than the intestinal tract. In rare cases a lipoma may turn cancerous, when it is termed a liposarcoma.
