Caption: Harold Earl Bennett, US physicist, in his office, circa 1962. An adding machine from the Monroe Calculator Company is seen on his desk. Bennett worked on optical physics, carrying out research and development at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, California, USA. He has received numerous awards for his conception and practical implementation of optical and laser engineering technology, and his work on the physical optics of surfaces. He holds several patents on his inventions, and when he left NAWCWD in 1995 he founded the Bennett Optical Research (BOR) company.
