Caption: Daniel Berg (born 1929), US scientist and educator. Berg studied chemistry at Yale University, and then joined the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, working there from 1953 to 1977, becoming technical director. From 1977 to 1983, he served as Dean of Science and then co-Provost at Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh. From 1983 he has worked at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, New York, and was President from 1985 to 1987. Since 1987, he has been Institute Professor of Science and Technology. In 2007, he received the Engineering Management Educator of the Year award from the IEEE Engineering Management Society for his work in engineering education.
