Caption: Gordon Zubrod (1914-1999), US oncologist. Zubrod's work aided the introduction of chemotherapy treatment for cancers. He was one of the recipients of the 1972 Albert Lasker Awards in recognition of his contribution to cancer research, along with several other awards. Zubrod's name is also connected to the Zubrod scale, a widely used performance scale that assesses the wellbeing (or 'perfomance') of cancer patients in order to determine whether they require chemotherapy, a dosage adjustment of their chemotherapy, and to gauge the intensity of palliative care.
