Caption: Neolithic human skull. This fossil skull was found during the construction of the docks at Preston, Lancashire, on the River Ribble, UK, in the period 1885 to 1892. This skull and other finds had been thought to be from the Bronze Age, but research at Liverpool John Moores University in 2002 established new dates. It is now thought that the finds date from a wider period of time, from the late neolithic around 6000 years ago, up to Anglo-Saxon times as recently as 1000 years ago.
