Caption: Timelapse of the fruiting body of a cage stinkhorn fungus (Clathrus ruber) opening. This fungus opens to display a rounded lattice of red arms, which emit a foul and pungent odour similar to that of rotting meat. This powerful smell attracts flies, which land on the fungus and pick up its spores, helping to disperse them. The red cage structure typically lasts around a day before collapsing. This clip was filmed over 56 hours, in England, UK.
