Caption: Secretarybird (Sagittarius serpentarius) drinking water from a waterhole. This large predatory bird is native to scrub and savannah in sub-Saharan Africa. It is related to eagles and it can fly, but it is largely terrestrial, catching ground-based prey. It feeds on a variety of animals from large insects to lizards and small mammals, and even venomous snakes. It either grabs prey with its hooked bill or stamps on it until it is unconscious. Filmed in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa.
