Caption: Vehicle Assembly Building and barge. Time-lapse footage of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), part of Launch Complex 39 at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA. At right, in the Turning Basin, is one of the barges used to bring the large external tank rocket to the VAB for use with Space Shuttles. The VAB is where NASA's largest launch systems are assembled. These include the Saturn V (Apollo program), the Space Shuttle, and the future Space Launch System (SLS). The VAB is one of the largest buildings in the world. It is 160 metres high and was built from 1962 to 1965. The Space Shuttle program operated from 1981 to 2011.
