Caption: Giant extinct penguin (Icadyptes salasi), artwork. This extinct species of penguin lived in tropical South America during the late Eocene (36 million years ago). It grew to a height of 1.5 metres tall which is much larger than modern day penguins. It had a very long, spear-like beak.
