Caption: Hermann's tortoise (Testudo hermanni) egg. This tortoise is found in southern Europe. Females lay clutches of 2 to 7 eggs in holes they dig in the ground. The eggs take 90 to 120 days to hatch. This tortoise can live for around 80 years. It is threatened in its natural scrub habitat by urbanisation and forest fires.
