Caption: Aurichalcite, like so many copper-bearing minerals, is blue. It is a zinc copper hydroxycarbonate and occurs in the oxidation zone of copper deposits, usually associated with malachite. However, large masses of pure aurichalcite are not common, which makes the material from Kelly, New Mexico noteworthy.
