Caption: Crocoite, due to its vibrant and intense red color, is extremely popular with collectors. The mineral, chemically lead chromate, is very rare and occurs sporadically in lead deposits. Nowhere is it better crystallized than at Dundas, Tasmania, where it occurs as spectacular aggregates of long blade-like crystals in the host rock.
